Key Changes in MAT December 2019 Exam

  • Computer-Based MAT date is December 14 2019, before paper Based MAT which is on December 8, 2019
  • Last Date to Apply for CBT MAT is December 6 before PBT MAT which is December 1
  • MAT Admit Card download date for CBT MAT starts on December 10 before PBT MAT which starts on December 2
  • Two MAT exams will be held in December instead of three

This is the first time that AIMA has reversed the order of both MAT exams. Instead of conducting the paper-based MAT exam first, the computer-based MAT exam will be conducted before the paper-based MAT exam.

The MAT December 2019 Registration process closes on 06 Dec 2019 (Friday) for CBT MAT and on 01 Dec 2019 (Sunday for PBT. The MAT registration process is completely online. 

AIMA conducts MAT exam four times a year in the months of February, May, December, and December. MAT full form is Management Aptitude Test and the exam score is valid for MBA/PGDM admission in more than 300 B-schools in India.

MAT 2019 December test is one of the important national level MBA entrance exams for admission to 300 MBA colleges in India. The score of the MAT december2019 exam will be accepted by the MBA colleges for admission MBA/PGDM courses starting in 2020.

AIMA releases a list of MBA colleges accepting MAT scores for each MAT exam on its official website. There is variation in number of MBA colleges accepting MAT exam scores for each of the four MAT exams. How to Apply for MAT December 2019 Exam?

  • The AIMA MAT December 2019 exam application process for the paper-based test and computer-based test is online only.
  • You have to apply for MAT DEC 2019 by login at the official AIMA website.
  • The first step to applying for MAT Exam is to fill up the MAT application form online at AIMA website
  • The second step is to make payment of MAT December application and exam fee online
  • The third step is to submit the MAT application form online
  • The MAT 2019 registration and application fee is Rs.1550/- for one MAT exam and Rs.2650/- for two MAT December 2019 exams
  • The last date to submit MAT exam application is December 16 for PBT and December 8 for CBT MAT December 2019

Although AIMA also extends the last date to apply for MAT exam by a few days, to play safe and in order to avoid technical glitches, the MAT application should be submitted by the pre-announced last dates for MAT exam registration.

AIMA has discontinued the offline application facility for MAT exam, so you have to apply for MAT exam online only. 

MAT Question Paper: Duration, Sectional composition & Scoring pattern

  • MAT December 2019 test paper has a time duration of 2½ hours.
  • There are 200 objective type questions in MCQs form in the MAT question paper of December MAT exam.
  • The question difficulty level is easy to moderate
  • The MAT exam is divided into 5 sections with 40 questions in each section
  • Each correct answer is awarded +1 Mark
  • Each wrong answer is penalized with negative marking of -0.25 mark
  • MAT exam sections are Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment.
  • Merit Score in MAT exam is calculated on the basis of 4 sections only and the score of Indian & Global Environment is separately shown but is not taken into account to calculate the merit or percentile in the MAT December 2019 scorecard.
  • MAT scorecard displays scaled score out of 800 Marks and not out of 160 or 200 raw scores
  • On the MAT scorecard along with the sectional and overall scaled scores, the sectional and overall percentile is also displayed.

MAT December 2019 Exam Syllabus: At par with other MBA entrance exams

All provisionally registered candidates for Paper-Based Test and Computer Based Test can download their MAT Admit Card from AIMA website on the scheduled dates for MAT Admit card Download. No MAT admit card is now sent as hard copy to the candidate’s registered address.

Specific MAT Admit Card is generated both for the candidates opted for the Paper Based Test and for the Computer Based Test. MAT Admit Card contains Candidate’s Name, Form No, Roll No, Test Date, Test Time and Test Venue Address. Candidate has to strictly follow the date and time allotted to him/her in the case of the Computer Based Test. 

MAT 2019 Exam: An Easy Question paper 
The MAT college cut offs in MBA admission are not very high although MAT question paper and MAT scoring pattern award liberal marks to MAT exam takers. The MAT colleges cut-offs, especially among top 20 MAT colleges like – BIMTECH, IESMCRC, SDMIMD, NDIM, Jaipuri, FIIB, FLAME among others, are slightly higher as compared to other MBA colleges accepting MAT scores since the merit position in top 20 MAT colleges is based on little higher cut-offs.

MAT Result on last week of December: Download Score Card from AIMA Website
MAT 2019 December exam result declaration date is December last week, 2019. The MAT Result will be available for download on AIMA official Website and no scorecard will be sent by post or E-mail. AIMA has announced, ‘Scorecard to be downloaded from AIMA website only. No separate scorecard will be sent by post or email.’ Accordingly, AIMA has discontinued the practice of sending the MAT exam score card by post or on E-mail.

MBA Colleges in Maharashtra to Accept MAT December 2019 Score
The Higher and Technical Education Department, Directorate of Technical Education,  Government of Maharashtra vide its notification ref. TEM.2018/C.R.27/TE-4 dated May 19, 2018 has clarified while determining the entrance exam eligibility of All India category candidates for MBA/MMS admission process in Maharashtra MBA colleges, that All India Candidature Candidate, Jammu, and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidate will be considered for MBA/MMS admission on the basis of obtaining non zero positive scores in CET conducted by the Competent Authority; CAT -conducted by Indian Institute of Management; CMAT; GMAT; MAT; ATMA and XAT.

Accordingly, the MAT 2019 scores will be considered for MBA admission in Maharashtra MBA colleges also.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate MBA colleges to screen candidates for admission to MBA, PGDM, and allied programs. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School – national or international – can consider MAT Score as the admission criteria based on its Score Cards issued to the candidates.
