The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), India, for admission to MBA and PGDM programs at AICTE-approved management institutes across India. Established in 2012, CMAT aims to provide a standardized assessment for managerial aptitude and streamline the admission process for management education.

CMAT evaluates candidates on quantitative, logical, verbal, and analytical skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared for managerial decision-making and problem-solving in professional environments.

Examination Pattern

The CMAT Exam typically follows this structure:

  • Mode: Computer-based test (CBT)
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Sections:
    • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (QT & DI): Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation
    • Logical Reasoning (LR): Analytical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving
    • Language Comprehension (LC): Reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary
    • General Awareness (GA): Current affairs, business awareness, and general knowledge
  • Number of Questions: 100 questions (25 per section)
  • Marking Scheme: +4 for correct answer, -1 for incorrect answer

Elligiability

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years from a recognized university
  • Final-Year Students: Eligible to apply
  • Age Limit: No age restriction

Admission Process

  • Shortlisting: Based on CMAT scores, academic record, and work experience (if applicable)
  • Selection Rounds: Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview (PI)
  • Final Selection: Admission offered based on CMAT score, GD/WAT/PI performance, academic record, and professional experience
  • Document Verification and Fee Payment: Admission confirmed upon submission of verified documents and program fee
